Brainspotting Therapy in New York and Massachusetts

Mind-body therapy that gets to the root.

Have you been in talk therapy and feel like something is missing?

Maybe you’ve spent time in therapy, read the books, and learned a lot about yourself. You understand your patterns and can often see why you feel the way you do.

  • Talking through the same issues in therapy without any shifts

  • Spending time thinking and analyzing that it’s hard to connect with what you’re actually feeling

  • Carrying anxiety, stress, or difficult emotions in your body that don’t seem to shift through talk therapy alone

  • Wanting to explore what’s underneath your experiences without having to explain or talk through every detail

Maybe you find yourself:

You’re ready for something different.

What is Brainspotting Therapy?

EMDR is a therapy that helps you work through difficult experiences that may still be affecting you today. It goes beyond talking about what happened and helps your brain and body process what you’ve been carrying.

Sometimes we can understand an experience and know it’s in the past but still feel its effects in the present. EMDR helps you work through those experiences so they don’t continue to have the same hold on you.

Together we’ll work at a pace that feels comfortable and focus on the experiences, beliefs, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

EMDR can help you to…

  • Feel less anxious and overwhelmed

  • Process experiences that still affect you

  • Reconnect with yourself and your body

  • Feel more grounded and present

  • Move forward from difficult experiences

So you can…

  • Feel more like yourself

  • Trust yourself more

  • Have more space for the things that matter to you

  • Feel calmer and more at ease in your life

Who is EMDR for?

High-achieving professionals who feel anxious and overwhelmed

People living with chronic illness or an autoimmune condition who are navigating the emotional impact of their health

Therapists, healthcare professionals, teachers, or other helping professionals who spends a lot of time caring for others

Someone who has been through a difficult experience that still affects how they feel and respond today

Business owners who have a hard time turning work off or put a lot of pressure on themselves

People who are hard on themselves and struggle with self doubt and perfectionism

Hi, I’m Deanna!

Many of my clients have already spent time in talk therapy. They understand their patterns, know where they come from, and have done a lot of self-reflection, yet they still feel stuck.

Sometimes knowing why isn’t enough to create change. Your body can continue to respond to past experiences even when you know you’re okay now. This can show up as anxiety, tension, overwhelm, difficulty resting, or being hard on yourself.

EMDR offers a way to work with what’s happening beneath the surface. Rather than only talking about difficult experiences, we slow down and help your brain and body process what you’ve been carrying.

The goal of EMDR therapy is for difficult experiences to feel less present in your life now, so you have more room to feel grounded, connected, and like yourself.

What is an EMDR session like?

Getting started

1.

We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping to change, and what you’d like to work on. Before we begin EMDR, we’ll get to know each other and build tools to help you feel grounded and supported.

The EMDR process

2.

We’ll choose a specific memory, experience, or feeling to work with. We’ll use bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, tapping, or sounds, while you notice what comes up in your thoughts, feelings, body, or memories.

I’ll guide you and support you throughout the process and you’re always in control of the pace. We can slow down, pause, or take a break whenever you need to.

What you can expect

3.

You don’t have to share every detail or relive a difficult experience. We work with what comes up and allow your mind and body to process the experience in a new way.

Over time, experiences that once felt overwhelming can begin to feel less intense. You may be able to think about what happened without feeling the same reaction or getting pulled back into the same patterns.

A life full of peace and purpose is possible.
